I thought September was going to be our quiet little month—the chance to catch our breath, get a few things done around the inn, and prepare for the busy fall season ahead.

I was wrong!

September turned out to be wonderfully busy at Prospect Hill on Main, with full weekends and guests coming to enjoy everything happening in and around Waynesville.

And there was plenty to do! September brought Thunder in the Smokies to nearby Maggie Valley, Arts Weekend Haywood and the Haywood County Studio Tour, and finally the Haywood County Fair—with rides, livestock shows, bluegrass music, clogging, a rodeo and all the things that make a small-town county fair so much fun.

Meanwhile, downtown Waynesville kept doing what it does best. Guests could walk from Prospect Hill to Main Street for shopping, galleries, restaurants, breweries and live music, then head back up the hill when they were ready to call it a night.

We also started seeing those first little hints of fall in the mountains—the cooler mornings, changing leaves and that unmistakable feeling that autumn is on its way.

September, you were supposed to be quiet!

But we’re certainly not complaining. We loved welcoming so many guests to Prospect Hill, and now we’re heading straight into October and one of the most beautiful times of the year in Western North Carolina.

Come stay, park the car, and walk to it all.
