From the Porch at Prospect Hill

Greetings, friends of Prospect Hill on Main! We have certainly had a great and busy month of opening the inn. Our grand opening was on April 20, with many friends and neighbors about showing up with their support. Since then, we’ve had several guests who have thoroughly enjoyed their time with us.

In case you missed it, here’s what the Chamber of Commerce said announcing the grand opening:

Join us for the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Celebration at Prospect Hill on Main!

Grand Opening Celebration 1:00 - 7:00 PM with

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 4:30.

274 S Main St, Waynesville, NC 28786

Ralph and Maryanna Koehring have spent decades overseas; Ralph working with the US Government, and Maryanna teaching English as a second language. They have recently moved back to the US with their three "nearly grown" children and have settled here in Waynesville. They are looking forward to this endeavor of reopening Prospect Hill as a historic inn, welcoming the sojourner to Waynesville and directing them to all the local businesses, especially those on Main Street just steps from the inn.

As longtime travelers themselves, Ralph and Maryanna bring a deep appreciation for hospitality and comfort. Their vision for Prospect Hill is to create a place where guests can relax, unwind, and also get out to enjoy all that the area has to offer. Listed on the National Historic Registry, Prospect Hill blends historic character with stories gathered from a life of international travel, offering a stay that is both welcoming and full of character.

About the inn: Prospect Hill on Main, listed on the National Historic Registry, is opening again as an inn! It is a boutique-type inn for guests to enjoy a minimum of a two-night stay. Guests can enjoy the unique bedrooms and also the many charming common areas including a large "parlor" (living room), an amazing library with a fireplace, the dining room (which offers hot tea at any time), the tv room, the large front porch with rocking chairs, and the patio with a firepit. The inn offers several rooms and suite-style accommodations, ranging from rooms with queen beds and a bathroom to rooms with king beds and sitting rooms or spa-like bathroom. Guests can enjoy a continental breakfast before heading out to the shops and restaurants just steps from the inn.”

April brought so many fun things to do in Waynesville. The highlight was probably the Appalachian true heritage festival. And just think- next year we’ll have guests who can stay at the inn and walk just a couple of blocks to get in on all of the festivities! There is always Appalachian music, street vendors, and craft demonstrations including blacksmithing and weaving.

Come enjoy a night or two at Prospect Hill on Main, and enjoy Downtown Waynesville and beyond.

Hope to see you soon!

Warmly,

Maryanna Koehring
