August at Prospect Hill: Music, Mountains & a Growing Waynesville Community

What a month August has been at Prospect Hill on Main!

Summer in Waynesville, North Carolina has a special vibe. Downtown is bustling, and there always seems to be something happening around town. Here at Prospect Hill on Main, August brought us wonderful guests and lots of live music and an exciting new chapter for our growing Facebook community!

Music on the Porch 🎶

One of our favorite things about Prospect Hill on Main is sharing our home with our guests, and music has become a wonderful part of that experience.

Throughout the summer, we've welcomed some incredibly talented musicians to Prospect Hill on Main for our Picking on the Porch evenings. There is something magical about sitting on the porch of a historic 1902 home, enjoying a drink and listening to live music as the evening settles over Waynesville.

We've been so fortunate to welcome:

Bill and Jo Ann Nagle, who brought their music to our porch and helped create one of those relaxed mountain evenings we love. Guitar, hammered dulcimer, and the vocals were a real treat.

Sandy & Rick, who shared their talents with our guests and filled the porch with music and conversation. They also brought guitar, dulcimer, and vocals.

Ashley Winters Folse, whose beautiful performance was another memorable addition to our summer music lineup. Who doesn't love a good fiddle?

Kevin Adams, who joined us for an evening of live music and made the porch the perfect place to unwind. His guitar vibe is unique and varried. There's even a hint of Spanish in his tunes.

And Brand New Box of Matches, a talented duo who brought even more music and fun to Prospect Hill. A female on bass, and husband on banjo and guitar. Both have fabulous vocals.

Every musician has brought something different to the porch, but the feeling is always the same: people slowing down, talking to one another, listening to music and simply enjoying where they are.

That's exactly what we want Prospect Hill on Main to be.

And Then Facebook Took Off!

August brought another surprise.

Our Prospect Hill on Main Facebook page has been growing, and suddenly, some of our videos began reaching thousands and thousands of people. 😱

What started as a simple way to show guests what's happening around our inn has turned into something much bigger. We've been sharing the places we love around downtown Waynesville and Western North Carolina—local shops, restaurants, coffee shops, mountain views, the elk in Cataloochee, sunsets at Waterrock Knob and some of the people who make this community special.

And people are responding!

One of the things we hear again and again is that people didn't realize just how much there is to see and do in Waynesville.

So we've made it our mission to show them.

We'll keep taking you beyond Main Street, introducing you to interesting local businesses, sharing our favorite places to eat and drink, and showing you some of the beautiful mountain destinations that are an easy drive from Prospect Hill.

There's More to Waynesville Than You Think

Of course, we love Main Street. One of the best things about staying at Prospect Hill is being able to head out and explore downtown Waynesville.

But there is so much more.

Wander down to Frog Level for coffee. Explore Hazelwood. Take a drive into the mountains. Watch the sunset from a scenic overlook. Look for elk. Discover a shop you've never noticed before. Or simply come back to Prospect Hill, grab a drink and settle into a rocking chair on the porch.

Sometimes the best part of a Western North Carolina weekend getaway isn't checking things off a list.

It's slowing down long enough to enjoy it.

Thank You for Following Along ❤️

To everyone who has stayed with us, played music on our porch, followed our Facebook page, watched one of our reels, shared a post, recommended a favorite Waynesville business or simply left an encouraging comment—thank you.

We love this town, and it has been incredibly fun watching more people discover it along with us.

Our mission at Prospect Hill on Main is to offer personal hospitality in a beautiful historic home, giving our guests a comfortable place to slow down, connect and experience the charm of downtown Waynesville and the mountains of Western North Carolina.

And we go out of our way for our guests.

August reminded us why we started doing this in the first place.

Here's to more music on the porch, more Waynesville adventures, more new friends—and a beautiful fall in the mountains ahead.

Come see us in Waynesville!
